Saving Mr. Banks


Saving Mr. Banks tells the story of how close we once came to living in a world without Supercalifragilisticexpiadlidocious. It chronicles the relationship between P.L Travers, author of Mary Poppins, and Walt Disney, the guy who invented that mouse, as they struggle to produce the movie Mary Poppins. In many ways, this films looks like it centers around a creative showdown between two spate visions of the magic nanny.

Tom Hanks plays Disney, and isn’t this just perfect casting? Hanks hasn’t been in that many memorable movies lately (remember Larry Crowne?) but he’ll certainly get (has gotten) a lot of attention for this role. Of course, it should be pointed out that this is a movie about Walt Disney made by the Walt Disney Company. I can’t imagine it’s going to be a deep dive into the life of the company’s founder. My guess is the script…
